IPPA – Positive Psychology Leader Series Fall Lineup 2017

IPPA members can now register for three exciting webinars in the Positive Psychology Leader Series being offered in Fall 2017.

IPPA

The first will welcome Ryan Niemiec, PsyD, for an extended presentation on Character Strengths Research & Interventions. Dr. Niemiec is Education Director of the VIA Institute on Character, a non-profit organization that is viewed as the global leader in advancing the science and practice of character strengths. Dr. Niemiec will share the latest in character strengths research, including new studies on character strengths appreciation, overuse/underuse/optimal-use of character strengths, and the connection with specific team roles. He will highlight domain-specific content relating to organizations, education, coaching/counseling, and health. He will also discuss the evidenced-based Mindfulness-Based Strengths Practice (MBSP), the first structured mindfulness program to target the positive, namely what is best in people. This hands-on webinar will help researchers, practitioners and educators to strengthen the link between research and practice, and learn how to work with character strengths to generate positive outcomes. Register today and join us on August 29th at 12:00 PM EDT.

IPPA’s new President Dr. Lea Waters will appear on the Leader Series on September 19 to discuss Strength-based Parenting. This presentation will demonstrate the extraordinary results of focusing on children’s strengths rather than always trying to correct their weaknesses. Most parents struggle with this shift because they suffer from a negativity bias. By showing us how to throw the “strengths switch,” Lea Waters demonstrates how we can not only help our children build resilience, optimism, and achievement but we can also help inoculate them against today’s pandemic of depression and anxiety. Professor Waters is a registered psychologist, researcher, speaker and author who specializes in positive parenting, positive organizations and positive education.

In October, the series will welcome Ilona Boniwell, PhD for a presentation titled “Playing positive psychology: Using tangible tools and facilitation methods in positive psychology coaching and training.” This talk will focus on the theory and emerging evidence behind using pragmatic, tangible tools and facilitation methods in positive psychology coaching and training to communicate positive psychology concepts and solutions to business and professional audiences. Dr. Boniwell is a leader who founded Europe’s first Master of Applied Positive Psychology program as well as the European Network of Positive Psychology. She currently heads the International MSc in Applied Positive Psychology (I-MAPP) at Anglia Ruskin University and consults around the world as a director of Positran and ScholaVie. She is passionate about practical applications of positive psychology to coaching, business, and education.

Please join us online to learn from and ask your questions to these leaders advancing the field of positive psychology. If you are not yet a member, join IPPA to register today!
