Philosophy of Science Association Biennial Conference

The PSA's 29th biennial meeting is scheduled to take place in New Orleans, LA from Nov 14-17, 2024. Founded in 1933, the Philosophy of Science Association promotes research, teaching, and free discussion of issues in the philosophy of science from diverse standpoints. To this end, the PSA engages in activities such as: the publishing of periodicals, essays and monographs; sponsoring conventions and meetings; and awarding prizes for distinguished work in the field.

International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR) Regional Conference: “Nature, Ecology, and Religious Responses to Climate Change”

The earliest written sources in history indicate that humans have always had thoughts, worries, and hopes about nature, ecological predicaments and how to explain and cope with climate and environmental hazards. However, with global warming, land erosion, deforestation, flooding, hurricanes, and pandemics, the nexus between the natural environment and human activities have become more frightening, giving rise to apocalyptic and dystopian scenarios.

World Philosophy Congress

CIPSH International Academy on Chinese Culture and Global Humanities

A New Framework for the Humanities in South America: Agreement Between CIPSH and the Associations of Universities Group Montevideo

International Day of Logic Approved by UNESCO

At its 207th session, in 207 EX/Decision 42, the Executive Board recommended “that UNESCO’s General Conference, at its 40th session, proclaim 14 January “World Logic Day”, in association with the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences (CIPSH)”.

Sustainability Science and the Humanities

In early 2019 a process was set in motion by UNESCO, the International Council for Philosophy & Human Sciences (CIPSH), the Humanities for the Environment global observatory network and the Nordic Network for Interdisciplinary Environmental Studies (NIES) to establish a framework enabling the launch of a global sustainability science coalition under the name of BRIDGES, which stands for Building Resilience In Defense of Global Environments and Societies.

In Liège: A New Vision for the Humanities in the 21st Century

For one week in August 2017, Liège, in Belgium, became the “world capital of humanities”, to quote Paul-Émile Mottard, President of the Provincial College of Liège. The World Humanities Conference (WHC), which ran from 6 to 12 August, ended with the adoption of a new vision for the humanities for the 21st century. Participants agreed that, the humanities’ capacity to engage substantive long term reflection was indispensable to our societies in steering the environmental, technological, and cultural dynamics that are transforming them.

A General Introduction to 2017 World Humanities Conference

Liege will host the World Humanities Conference from Sunday, the 6th, to Saturday, the 12th of August, 2017. The “World Humanities Conference. Challenges and Responsibilities for a Planet in Transition” will take place in Liège, Belgium, from 6 to 12 August 2017. Call for Proposals of Symposia and Papers

ISSC-CIPSH Joint Scientific Symposium 2010

The aim of this symposium is to assist in the mobilization of a broader and stronger social and human sciences response to the growing demands of environmental change.
