UNESCO launches a call for young women and men under the age of 35 to apply for the 2021‘Silk Roads Youth Research Grant’.12 research grants of USD10,000 will be awarded. The Grant aims to mobilize young researchers for further study of the Silk Roads shared heritage.
A unique global non-governmental organization, representative of both the natural and social sciences, was formed this week through the merger of the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC), two of UNESCO’s longest standing partners. The International Science Council (ISC) will support scientists to contribute solutions to complex and pressing matters of global public concern and defend the inherent values of science at a time when it has become harder for it to be heard.
The 4th World Social Science Forum will be dedicated to the theme of “Security and Equality for Sustainable Futures” in Fukuoka, Japan, from 25 to 28 September 2018. The Forum is organized by the International Social Science Council (ISSC), under the patronage of UNESCO.
The 2018 United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will be held under the theme of “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies.”
On July 2018 the ISSC merged with the International Council for Science (ICSU) to form the International Science Council, creating a single unified council to be the global voice for all the sciences.
This event will also promote a national dialogue with key actors in the field of climate change in Ethiopia. The inclusion of pastoralists’ knowledge about weather and climate in current actions regarding climate change represents a fundamental asset which can enhance their adaptation to changing climate conditions.
