As one of CIPSH’s oldest member organisations, the International Union of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Sciences (UISPP) has long served as a global forum for dialogue among scholars studying humanity’s earliest chapters. Since its founding in 1931, UISPP has promoted international collaboration in archaeology, prehistory, and related disciplines—linking scientific research with broader cultural understanding.
The Union is now pleased to announce its XXI World Congress, to be held in Poznań, Poland, from 31 August to 4 September 2026, hosted by Adam Mickiewicz University.
With the theme “Archaeology in Motion: Past Lessons, Future Responsibilities,” the 2026 Congress invites participants from across the world to reflect on how the study of our deep past can illuminate present challenges and future pathways. It will bring together researchers, educators, and students from diverse backgrounds to discuss new findings, interchange perspectives, and shape collective thinking on the role of archaeology in today’s rapidly changing world.
A rich scientific programme—comprising sessions, symposia, and workshops—will span all domains of prehistoric and protohistoric research, encouraging interdisciplinary connections and inclusive debate. Beyond the academic programme, attendees will have the chance to experience Poznań’s vibrant cultural and historical setting, fostering both intellectual and human connection.
Further details on registration, session proposals, and organisational arrangements can be found on the Congress website: https://uispp2026.syskonf.pl.
UISPP 2026 promises to be a dynamic and truly global meeting point for those seeking to understand not only where humanity has come from—but where it is heading next.
