In April 2018, the Faculty of Arts of KU Leuven and KU Leuven Libraries are hosting a European Conference for the Humanities on behalf of the European Consortium for Humanities Institutes and Centres (ECHIC).

Every two years, the International Union of Academies holds its General Assembly at the seat of one of its members. In 2017, the General Assembly will be held in Tokyo at the invitation of the Japan Academy.

The 2017 annual meeting of the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes (CHCI) will explore the multiple ways in which improvisation has enabled and facilitated the study of the humanities, not least in times of great social upheaval. Under the theme of “The Humanities Improvised,” the annual meeting aims to gather together artists, art commentators, and humanists from member institutions to reconceptualize the relationship between art and the humanities against the backdrop of a rapidly changing world.
